Borrow A Boat and Clean Sailors announce partnership to help set cleaner standards in boat chartering

Clean Sailors and Borrow A Boat partnership

Borrow A Boat, the largest boat charter marketplace in the UK, and Clean Sailors announce partnership to spearhead cleaner standards in boat chartering.

As the first boat charter business to work with Clean Sailors, the partnership will help to cement a new standard of cleaner, ocean-conscious sailing within Borrow A Boat’s substantial boating community, by providing practical advice, tips, and best-practice on chartering, raising awareness of ocean conservation issues, and highlighting the role each sailor and charter guest plays in safeguarding the health of our seas.

Launched in July 2020, Clean Sailors’ mission is to set a new standard of cleaner sailing within the global sailing community. Work includes campaigning for legislation to better protect our ocean, education, advice and outreach on conservation opportunities within the sailing and marine communities, and sharing scientific research on issues facing our global waters.

By working together, Borrow A Boat and Clean Sailors aim to inspire and advise as many boaters as possible on how to better conserve our oceans when on the water.

Borrow A Boat CEO, Matt Ovenden, said: “Partnering with Clean Sailors is the next important step for us in our mission to promote sustainable boating across the chartering industry worldwide.

“As the UK’s largest boat-charter marketplace, we feel it our duty to help guide change and use our platform to encourage the protection of our oceans for the enjoyment of generations to come.

“We see a natural affinity between Borrow A Boat and Clean Sailors in this aim, as Holly and the team bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge on our oceans and how to tread lightly in boating and in enjoyment of our seas. We look forward to using our platform to drive positive change towards a cleaner standard in chartering worldwide.”

Holly Manvell, Clean Sailors founder, said: "We’re really excited to be working with the Borrow A Boat team. Chartering is a hugely important experience not just for sailing and boating more broadly, but for seeing and feeling first-hand the wonder of our ecosystems and the magic of our waters.

“When on a boat we are all sailors and seafarers, whether it’s our first time or our hundredth, and through this partnership we look forward to inspiring more of us to become ocean ambassadors - to create cleaner seas for all.”
